Changing Lives Through Assistive Technology

The Assistive Technology Network (ATN) consists of a group of professionals and consumers in Northeastern Minnesota interested in Assistive Technology (AT), Augmentative Communication (AC) and Service Delivery in this region.

The long range goals of the ATN are to develop the region's capacity to provide more localized AT/AC services, giving the people in this region the choice to go somewhere within this region for AT/AC assessments and services.

Funding for this project was provided by STAR, A System of Technology to Achieve Results - located within the Minnesota Department of Administration and funded by the Rehabilitation Services Administration under the Assistive Technology Act of 1998 as amended, P.L. 105-394.

Individual Advocacy

An advocate will assist an individual in the full process of obtaining an AT /AC device.  What this process entails will depend upon your specific needs and the potential funding sources available.  The advocate will coordinate with Service Providers to insure that the individual receive the Assistive Technology which best suits their needs.

Publication of the Regions AT and AC Resources

ATN will be publishing a resource directory of what is available on our region for technology.

On-Demand Lending Library

If an individual is in need of an AT or AC device they may be eligible to participate in our On Demand Lending Library.  This unique service operates on a first come first serve basis and the funds are limited.  We may purchase the device requested and the individual can use the device for as long as needed.  ATN will retain ownership.

Mobile Assistive Technology Demonstration Lab

ATN began this demonstration lab which is open to all who wish to try assistive technology equipment.
Group demonstrations are available upon request.  Contact parson@accessnorth.net
